How does Counseling/Therapy Work?

Counseling with me is:

• Virtual — accessible anywhere in North Carolina or Virginia

• Goal‑oriented but flexible
• A space to slow down, reflect, and grow

We’ll explore patterns, build skills, and create a plan that supports the life you’re trying to build.

What Should I Expect in the First Session?

Before your first appointment, you’ll receive a link to complete your intake documentation through my secure client platform. This paperwork helps us get started smoothly — it gathers your contact information, billing details, scheduling preferences, and a brief overview of what brings you to therapy. Completing this ahead of time protects your privacy, ensures accurate billing, and allows us to use our session time meaningfully.

Your first session is our intake session, and it’s the only appointment that follows a slightly different structure. During this time, we’ll review your forms together, talk through expectations, discuss confidentiality, and make sure you feel safe, informed, and fully aware of what therapy with me looks like. I’ll answer any questions you have and check in about your goals, comfort level, and what support feels most helpful right now.

This session sets the foundation for our work — no surprises, no pressure, just a steady start and space to get oriented before we move into regular therapy sessions.

Services Offered

Individual Counseling

I provide individual therapy for adults who need a calm, focused space to understand what’s happening in their internal world and build practical skills for daily life. My approach is centered on helping you regulate, make sense of your experiences, and move through stress, trauma responses, grief, or major life transitions with more clarity and stability.

I pay close attention to the beliefs and patterns shaping your reactions, and we work together to challenge what no longer serves you through core‑belief work, reality testing, and practical tools you can use outside of session.

All services include a collaborative treatment plan where we discuss the problem from your perspective, identify your goals, and outline the interventions we’ll use so you know what to expect. This plan is a living document that we revisit and update as your needs evolve.

Sessions are virtual and available to clients located in North Carolina and Virginia.

Group Counseling

I seasonally offer closed, virtual groups for adults who benefit from learning in a structured, supportive environment. Each group runs as a short‑term, skills‑based series with the same members throughout, allowing for consistency, safety, and a clear sense of progression.

Groups are calm, contained, and practical — designed for people who want grounding, clarity, and tools they can use outside of session.  Each cohort follows a clear structure and focuses on building skills in community.

Groups may focus on:

• Anxiety and emotional regulation
• Burnout and overwhelm
• Chronic Pain/Medical Illness
• Life transitions
• Support for helpers and early‑career clinicians

All groups are offered virtually for clients located in North Carolina and Virginia.

Superbills

If I am out of network with your insurance plan, don't worry! You may still be able to receive partial reimbursement for money you spend on therapy.

A super bill is a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance company for out‑of‑network reimbursement. It includes the information your insurer needs to process your claim. I provide super bills monthly and can guide you through how to use them.
